Anonymous announces anti-ISIS “Trolling Day”

Anonymous announces its most recent plan for thwarting ISIS: “Trolling Day”.

After the terrorist attacks on Paris, Anonymous declared war on the Islamic State, and began leaking personal information of suspected extremists.

“Make no mistake: #Anonymous is at war with #Daesh. We won’t stop opposing #IslamicState. We’re also better hackers. #OpISIS”, Anonymous tweeted.

According to a press release by Anonymous, “Anonymous has been waging Operation ISIS for more than a year now, but due to its recent surge in activity, we feel the need to clarify our views and communicate our message to the media. This operation is the result of multiple key players working to disrupt recruitment of the terrorist organization ISIS.”

Now the hacktivist group is asking its supporters to join them for another another battle in “Operation ISIS”, one they’re calling “Trolling Day”.  Members and supporters of Anonymous are being asked to troll the Islamic State/IS/ISIS/Daesh/ISIL (etc.) by posting deliberately offensive and provocative posts on social media, in hopes to illicit a negative response from the terrorist group.

Anonymous says that the point behind “Trolling Day” is to combat the fear that the terrorist group has attempted to spread.  They are even asking people to use the hashtags, #Daesh and #Daeshbags, since ISIS has made it known that they despise being referred to as Daesh.

“They thrive off of fear…they hope that by their actions they can silence all of us and get us to just lay low and hide in fear. But what many forget, and even they do, is that there are many more people in the world against them than for them,” the group wrote online.  ”We will mock them for the idiots they are.”

The group is even asking people to take the trolling offline as well, posting stickers and flyers mocking the group around their respective cities.

Anonymous’ Trolling Day is December 11th.
